As a child, Zak Martin was a musical prodigy, able to play virtually every instrument expertly, despite never having received musical training of any kind.
Over the years he has collaborated musically and creatively with some of the world’s most highly acclaimed singers and musicians, particularly in his native Ireland.
Artists he has collaborated creatively with have included Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy), Phil Chevron (The Pogues, The Radiators from Space), Sam Obernik (Tim Deluxe, Linus Love, Tomcraft), Sinéad O’Connor, Eurovision singer Una Gibney (who recorded his song “Telescope” for Polygram), Irish all-girl band The Colleens – and many others.
Currently he is working with Irish singer and actor Carmen Owens (known for her appearances in the award-winning TV series “Derry Girls,” and her starring role in the short film, “Déirdre’s Descent Into Madness“), recording his latest song “Dance (Step Into the Light)”.
His songwriting covers a range of different genres, including pop, rock, grunge, country, folk, blues, jazz and classical. “Dance” is his first foray into the Dance/House genre.
