Biography

Zak Martin was born and grew up in Dublin, Ireland. As a child he was a musical prodigy, able to play virtually every instrument expertly, despite never having received musical training of any kind.

He studied Psychology, but his real interest was in the hidden powers of the mind, including such abilities as clairvoyance and precognition – abilities he himself had exhibited since early childhood.

As president of the Psychic Society of Ireland (PSI), he carried out a series of tests and experiments into psychic abilities – including a game of chess-by-telepathy – which attracted national media attention. He began to give public talks and demonstrations of extrasensory perception and hypnosis, and he wrote his first book: How to Develop your ESP (HarperCollins), which has sold over two million copies in paperback, and which has been translated into twenty languages.

He was asked to help in a number of police investigations in the UK and Ireland, most notably the Brittas Bay Murders, the Notting Hill Rapist and the kidnapping of the race horse Shergar. Since then he has received a steady stream of requests from police forces around the world – including Scotland Yard – for help with unsolved cases.

He went to live in London, where he established the London Psychic Centre at the exclusive Sherlock Holmes Hotel in London’s Baker Street. The Centre became a major Mind-Body-Spirit venue, attracting thousand of visitors weekly to attend lectures, workshops and demonstrations, and to consult the resident team of psychic advisors. The London Psychic Centre was the subject of numerous TV programmes, including Nationwide, The 6 O’Clock Show, Breakfast TV and many others, and was a mecca for the UK’s pop stars and showbusiness personalities.

Zak Martin established his own private consultancy at Kensington, London. His clients included royalty, politicians, heads of major companies, pop stars, TV and movie personalities, and, of course, police departments from around the world seeking his help with unsolved crimes.

Apart from his work as a psychic, Zak Martin has many interests, including song-writing, music production, painting (his paintings and sketches are in high demand), writing, photography and chess. He is also actively involved with the Anti War Movement, and a lifelong advocate for Palestinian independence. He is founder of Recognise Palestine, a group which campaigns for recognition of Palestine. The group has almost 50,000 members. He is also creator of the Change.org petition calling on Google to include Palestine in Google Maps. The petition has been signed by over two million people, and has been publicly supported by prominent figures, including journalist and filmmaker Abby Martin, musician Roger Waters, and pop singer Madonna. Beyond his organizational efforts, Martin has written numerous articles on political and humanitarian issues.

Zak Martin has two daughters, Galéna, by former top Irish fashion model, Rachel Murray, and Niamh by a previous relationship. Galéna, like her father, is a proficient musician and plays several instruments. She has performed at the Irish National Concert Hall with the Irish Academy of Music orchestra, playing cello – and in pop concerts, playing bass guitar. Her debut public performance was introduced by U2’s Edge. Niamh owns and runs a hairdressing and beauty studio in Dublin.

Zak Martin lives in Granada, in the South of Spain, where he runs a holistic centre and heads the country’s main holistic therapist network, Red Holística, and publishes Spain’s online directory of holistic practitioners, Directorio Holístico. He also owns several companies not connected with the psychic field, including the tourist portal, CostaTropical.com, and the digital TV channel Costa Tropical TV. He is also CEO of the luxury real-estate company, Granada Properties, which provided research for the popular BBC2 series, Living in the Sun.

Zak Martin likes to relax by playing jazz and blues guitar, and occasionally takes part in music sessions at venues in the south of Spain, to audiences that are largely unaware of his renown as a clairvoyant, author and leading New Age figure.

He is happy to give interviews, but will only consider taking part in TV/radio programmes on psychic, psychological, sociological, scientific and political topics which, in his opinion, are intelligent and thought-provoking. He is not a medium and does not communicate with dead people, nor is he interested in ghostly visitations or other “spooky” events that may or may not go bump in the night. His area of interest and expertise is primarily in things that go bump in the mind.
